A Quick Vending Machine History For Qld To Antiquity!

Vending machines are a great addition to your QLD business, or even a fun option for a home theatre in your house.  Vending machines may seem like a recent product of the 20th - 21st century, however vending machines have been around for a lot longer than what we realise! In fact the very first vending machines to exist were very far away from Queensland or even Australia and existed in Antiquity and were made by a man known as the ‘Hero of Alexandria’.

These first vending machines were obviously devices, which were a lot simpler, and did not use the technology we have today, but it is thanks to these first few that we have the vending machines we know and love today. This very first vending machine was actually created in order to dispense holy water - very different to the soft drinks that tour vending machines dispense for us now!

Vending machines then took a slightly more debaucheries turn as they began dispensing tobacco. Although today, these kinds of vending machines have been outlawed in many countries across the world, vending machines, which dispense cigarettes, are still common in Czech Republic, Spain, Japan, Germany and Italy. The first of these machines was believed to be around in 1615 in taverns across Europe. These vending machines were made of copper and were also portable like the ones we use today, but much smaller in size.

The modern coin-operated vending machines we know and use in Queensland today come from the early 1880s from London, where vending machines were used to dispense post cards, envelopes and newspapers. These acted almost as miniature post offices, offering the public these things that they needed to post letters and keep in touch with current affairs. The less utilitarian of vending machines deposited candy and gum. These, although not as necessary were very popular and a lot of fun, especially for children.

These vending machines then developed in their attraction by developing game like activities for people to play whilst the machine deposited their gum. Small puppet like figures would be positioned in the machine and would be able to be controlled in their moments by people. These machines came to be known as “trade stimulators” - that is, in order to gain a piece of gum, you would trade a moment of your attention and be stimulated by these figures. These vending machines were so popular that they were developed into the much loved and globally known slot and pinball machines that we use today.

Queensland Free Vending systems love the history and fun stories behind vending machines- they prove just how popular and relevant vending machines have been and continue to be over the ages. Placing a vending machine in your work place can offer this extra little bit of incentive, offering a treat for a quick break in order to get back to work with a little something extra in their stomach and more energy to get their work done.

Have You Noticed The Vending Machines

While we’re all familiar with the average snack vending machines that offer chips, chocolate bars and soft drinks, other vending machine options are becoming more accessible. I have heard recently that they have installed healthy vending machines into my old high school. While I’m sure the kids aren’t impressed, it really does seem like a positive step in the right direction. I have even heard about PPE vending machines at my uncle’s work that distribute office supplies. It seems these days’ companies are beginning to expand their minds about what is possible in a vending machine. Below are some amazing vending machines that are popping up across the world.

The Intelligent Colour Experience

This vending machine is another one that will get girls excited. It may sound like magic but the machine actually advises what make up best suits your outfit. If you’ve never been one for picking out eye shadow or lipstick colours, you can count your lucky stars because this machine will give you the professional advice you need. As well as advising you on the best colours to choose, it also dispensed make up for you in the right colour. Using a camera, the vending machine looks at your outfit and then makes a decision on what will best suit you. The machine is located at New York’s 42nd Street Bryant Park Subway station and is definitely an interesting way to burn time in between waiting for the subway.

Leon’s Grill Hotdogs

It seems like the people of New York are constantly getting busier and busier. While traditionally they’d stop at a hot dog vending to grab a tasty and quick bite, event he time waiting for the vendor to prepare the hot dog is too long. In the fast paced city, you can curb your craving for a hot dog by stopping at the Leon Grill Hotdog vending machine. In just one minute the machine spits at a mouthwatering hot dog on a toasted bun. All it costs is just $2, what a bargain.

The Burrito Box

On the theme of fast food, a vending machine situated in a West Hollywood convenience store gives you ready made burrito. While the concept doesn’t seem as extreme as some of the kooky vending machines in Japan, the vending machine aptly named the Burrito Box, is sending the media into a spin. While TV news stations and bloggers have sung the praises, customer review are more mixed.

The Caviar Vending Machine

If your pallet is too refined for hotdogs and burritos, but you still like quick and easy food, the Caviar Vending Machine may be more to your liking. You will need to head down to either two special LA malls or the Burbank California mall to indulge in this lavish treat. With the machine holding a $50,000 inventory, you can tell what it holds is pricey. You can either buy just the caviar itself or splurge and buy caviar accessories too like toast and tiny spoons.

Pizza Vending Machines

This fast food vending machine definitely has me intrigued. It claims to be able to make pizza from scratch including the dough. While it reeks of futuristic robots, when you see the machine it looks just like a normal vending machine. You can every choose from four different flavours. The best bit is you can actually watch the pizza being made through a window on the side, so it will put your mind at ease of how it is made. All this just takes two minutes, which seems way better than waiting around for a pizza delivery.

Wild ideas that will make your vending machine business a success in Brisbane

If you have been considering starting up your own vending machine business in Brisbane, you should start thinking outside of the box. These days its hard to get customer loyalty with your vending machine if you are just offering the same thing that everyone else has. Why not try getting out of your comfort zone and trying something a bit wacky that people will actually use. Below are some cool examples of weird vending machines that are actually successful.

Crab Vending Machines

This is one vending machine not to snap at. Situated in China, the crab vending machine spits out live crabs. While it may seem a little kooky to us Queenslanders, in China they are crazy about these edible sea creatures. There is no worry about freshness either with the crabs kept at a steady temperature to ensure they are alive until its time to eat. With August to October being the best crab season, these vending machines take quite a hit at that time of year. It only costs you around $3 to indulge in the salty snack. Plus, you get ginger tea and crab vinegar to go with it, which are the perfect accompaniments.

Gold Vending Machine

Only in the United Arab Emirates does this idea seem possible. While it would be laughable in most counties including Australia, there does seem to be a demand for it in Abu Dhabi. In the glamorous Emirates Palace hotel you will find the vending machine. Equipped with a ticker that updates that gold prices every 10 seconds, the machine is ideal for the rich and famous who want to stock up on a little gold. If you’re a billionaire and you’re feeling a little light on gold, you can simply use the vending machine to get out a few bars.   Tie Vending Machines  Have you ever been caught in a pickle where you are underdressed for an event? It may be a special dinner, an important business meeting or even a date. Whatever the reason, the Japanese are lucky enough to have a quick and easy solution. The tie vending machines dispensed a range of different neckties so you can get yourself ready quickly for a important occasion. The machine is also stocked with some other handy items including batteries, cards and disposable cameras.
Mashed Potato Vending Machine

Comfort food is not to far away if you live in Singapore. Mashed potato vending machines have been popping up in Singapore 7-Elevens since 2012. What is strange is that the Singaporean population that is made up of a mixture of Chinese, Malays and Indians aren’t really know for their love of the mashed spud. Whilst it isn’t a known local delicacy it appears to be popular with plans to roll the machines out in other 7-Elevens around the globe.

Alcohol Vending Machine

Have you noticed you’re always on to your last beer when friends drop over? It is also always when the Bottle-O is shut so you have nothing to offer your friends. If this is a common predicament in your life, than you’ll be interested to learn about the alcohol vending machines in Japan. Just like a soft drink vending machine these innovative machines allow you to indulge in beer and spirits simply. You can just head down to your local vending machine and pick up a few cold ones when you need to. The only catch is, there is a night curfew on the machines and they must be switched off between 11pm and 6 am.

Salad Vending Machines

Have you ever been guilty of complaining that there were no health options in a vending machine, but really being happy because it’s an excuse to eat a chocolate bar? If so, then this vending machine is about to cut your junk food consumption. This vending machine sells nothing but fresh salads. The vending machine is promoted as dispensing exclusively organic, restaurant-quality salads and snacks. Luke Saunders, a 27-year-old created the machine with the aim to introduce a healthy option.

The vending machine has been launched in a downtown Chicago kiosk and adds a bit of colour. The machine is crafted from reclaimed wood and is decorated with live plants and artificial turf beneath it. A kitchen close by the kiosk prepares the food, which is stocked into the machine at 10 am every day. The food is stocked with fresh salads and snack made from organic and locally grown produce. To make the machine even better, at the end of the day the remaining stock is unpacked from the machine and donated to a local food pantry.

Crack Pipe Vending Machine

Toronto is home to the first ever crack pipe vending machine. While it caused much controversy, the vending machine was actually created by a Canadian non-profit organization to help control the spread of HIV and hepatitis between drug users. With many drug users purchasing glass tube pipes from DIY stores that have splintered glass, the spread of infections through cuts and sores is rife. Therefore, the pipes from the vending machines stop this spread. The vending machine dispenses pipes for 25 cents, with 200 pipes in the machine. The machine is stocked every five days.

Bra Vending Machine

This bra vending machine in Tokyo takes the hassle out of bra fitting and shopping. If you know your measurements you can easily get a bra dispensed in your correct size. If you need assistance, there’s a size chart on the vending machine to make your selection easier. The vending machine was created by Wacoal, a Japanese lingerie maker, and is placed in a specialty shop called Shibuya. The vending machine dispenses wireless brands, which are called “Fun Fun Week” bras. It will cost you just $30 for a bra, which equates to 2,940 yen.

Swap Vending Machine

Do you have a cool item that you don’t use anymore but you don’t want to chuck out? If so, then the Swap-O-Matic is perfect for you. Rather than just dispending the regular chip, chocolate and soft drink, the machine does much more. It allows you to trade your items with others in the community. How it works is, you place your item in the machine and then choose another item on display that you would like instead. If nothing takes your fancy at the time you can earn yourself credit, which you can use to redeem something you would like.

Weird Vending Machines We Need To Get In Qld

I am renowned for my weakness of snacking throughout the day. If a see a vending machine in QLD, I just have to purchase something from it. Whether it’s my favourite chocolate or a bubbly Coke, when I see it I can’t help myself. This got me thinking what it would be like if vending machines weren’t full of treats. What if they served different foods? After researching vending machines around the world, I discovered some wacky vending machines I never thought existed.

Bananas

Every wanted to snack on a banana on the run? If you are interested in a healthier option than the normal junk food vending machines offers, this Japanese vending machine is for you. The banana vending machines dispenses single and bunches of bananas at the Tokyo Shibuya train station. If you’re like me and you’ve though about banana peels and the risk of slipping over whilst rushing for your trains, there isn’t much worry about this. It seems the machine manufacturers have already considered this and build bins on the side of the vending machine, so you can drop your peels in there before rushing off.

Mashed Potato

I saw these in Singapore in 7-11 and am still waiting with anticipation for them to bring them to Queensland. These mashed potato vending machines are highly convenient and produce amazing hot mashed potato. You can even get your mash with a dollop of gravy, which is delicious. The best thing is, this delight only costs $1.

French Fries

This is the perfect invention that should be brought into all Queensland universities, as it would make a mint. The Australia French fries vending machine cooks frozen chips to order for just $2. There is said to be a chef robot inside that takes your order and begins frying up the chips within the machine. The chips are flash fried and spurt out golden and crunchy.

Beer And Sake Vending Machine

We have a lot of cool inventions to thank the Japanese for and this is just another amazing one to add to the list. The beer and sake vending machine, dispenses cold alcoholic drinks, just like a soft drink vending machine. Unfortunately though, these machines shut down at 11 pm.

Eggs

If you don’t have time for a chicken pen in your backyard, here is another handy way to get fresh eggs fast. This Japanese vending machine dispenses bags of eggs in Nagoya. The eggs are kept safe in pigeon hole type containers, which you select and then open up to get your fresh eggs from. Eggs are sold for just $3 a bag. The machine is updated in the morning every day with fresh eggs to ensure they are safe for human consumption.

Baguette

We know how much the French love their baguettes, which is reflected in the baguette vending machines in Paris. Rather than visiting expensive bakeries and patisseries that have big line ups from tourists, the French get their bread from a vending machine. For just $1.30 a steaming, crusty baguette is surrendered. Before the bread is put in the vending machine it is partially cooked and during dispensing it receives a final heating.

Rice

Japan is renowned for its rice, so why not purchase it from a vending machine? In Himeji in Japan, rice is extremely popular, which is why it can be easily and conveniently purchased from a vending machine. The rice vending machines offer eight different varieties of rice. Rice can be purchased in large 22 pound bags for between $30 to $40.
